Sgeulachdan nar h-Òrain / The Stories in Our Songs

Music and song have been a deep, intrinsic piece of Gaelic culture for centuries, from laments to work songs to puirt-a-beul.

You are invited to join Colleen Lynk as she teaches some of these songs and the traditions and stories behind them. Refreshments will be provided and there will be an opportunity for open discussion following. All are welcome to this free event!

Colleen Lynk is immensely passionate about Gaelic language and music. Her paternal grandmother, Sadie Lynk of Glace Bay, was a Gaelic speaker and descendant of the North Uist Laing family, known for their long history of bardic abilities. Sadie’s great uncle, Rory MacLean, was also known as a Gaelic bard in his community of St. Ann’s, Victoria County. The family proudly carries ancestral connections to John Morrison of Harris, Iain Gobha na Hearadh. She has dedicated herself to the culture and traditions of her Grandmothers family.
