The Immigration Experience

Three short films from the National Film Board:

Wild Life – This OscarĀ®-nominated animated short tells the story of a dapper young remittance man who is sent from England to Alberta to attempt ranching in 1909.

First Winter – This historical drama features the first winter spent in Canada by a family of Irish immigrants deep in the Ottawa Valley.

19 Days – This short documentary follows several refugee families during the 19-day timeline established by the federal government, during which an initial assessment is done and refugees are assisted with everything from airport reception and orientation to referrals, documents, and counselling.
