SUMMARY:Never Too Late: A Talk with Author Frances Peck
DESCRIPTION:Growing up on the Mira\, Frances Peck wrote for pleasure all the time. But in her twenties\, with bills to pay\, she gave up creative writing to work as an editor\, instructor\, and writer of other people’s words. Then something happened. \nIn her late fifties\, Frances\, now in North Vancouver\, published not one but two literary page-turners. The Broken Places\, her debut novel about a major earthquake rocking the west coast\, “keep[s] readers taut with anticipation” (Vancouver Sun). It was a Globe and Mail best book of 2022 and a finalist for Canada’s Rakuten Kobo Emerging Writer Prize. Her second novel\, Uncontrolled Flight\, an “absorbing\, intense contemporary tale” (Winnipeg Free Press) about the death of a BC firefighting pilot\, made several book-of-the year lists in 2023. \nJoin Frances for a lively talk about her writing path\, her novels (including one in progress set in Cape Breton)\, and her discovery that it’s never too late to realize your childhood dreams. \nEveryone welcome. \n*Books available for purchase and signing.  \n**Book sales by Indigo – cash only.
