SUMMARY:Celtic Conversations: Roo Geddes & Tove de Fries
DESCRIPTION:Roo Geddes is a classical and traditional Scottish fiddler who creates new and original music collaborations with accordionist Neil Sutcliffe. Their compositions are inspired by landscape and people\, and by how music can evoke a sense of place and community. They maintain a busy concert schedule performing for jazz\, classical\, and folk audiences alike\, from rural touring to venues including the Usher Hall and the Royal Concert Hall in Glasgow. They also enjoy a close relationship with the charity Live Music Now\, bringing dozens of performances to secluded and underprivileged communities. \nTove de Fries is a fiddler and music educator with deep roots in the Danish folk music tradition. A multiple Danish Music Award winner\, Tove is recognized for her vibrant fiddle playing\, her ability to bring musicians together across nations\, generations and skill levels\, and her deep passion for preserving and passing on the traditional folk music culture. Over the years\, she has also developed a close musical connection to Cape Breton\, drawing inspiration from and collaborating with notable musicians like Jerry Holland\, Marion Dewar\, Allan Dewar\, Andrea Beaton\, and Troy MacGillivray. \nThis program is part of a free series in association with the Celtic Colours International Festival showcasing musicians performing at this year’s festival.\nMusic and conversation fill the hour. Drop in\, general seating.
