Summer Reading Club 2022

Summer reading time is here!

Join Cape Breton Regional Library’s Summer Reading Club June 18 – August 31, 2022.

Set a reading goal for yourself and track your progress using the ReadSquared App or ReadSquared website.

All ages are welcome to participate.

Here’s how it works:

For Kids 12 and under

  • Earn one Grand Prize Ballot for every 4 books read.
  • Additional points towards ballots can be earning by doing other non-reading activities over the summer

Grand Prizes for kids are:

  • A gift certificate for one night at the Holiday Inn – Sydney Waterfront (courtesy Holiday Inn)
  • a Bicycle
  • Lego Prize Pack
  • Board Game Package

For Teens (13+) and Adults

  • Earn one Grand Prize Ballot for every 3 books read.

Grand Prizes for Teens and Adults are:

  • oTENTik camping experience for 2023
    (courtesy of Parks Canada)
  • Booklover’s Prize (On Paper Books and Indigo gift cards)
  • Board Games Package

** Prize winners must be residents of CBRM or Victoria Co.

All reading counts! We love books, eBooks, audiobooks, magazines & comics.

You can read aloud to someone else, or have someone read aloud to you.

Log your reading online using the Read Squared Website or ReadSquared App.

Not online this summer? Not a problem! You can register with Library staff at any library branch and ask for a paper log sheet.

Looking for book suggestions? Visit one of our library branches, browse our Book Blog, or go directly to the Same Page Catalogue to see staff picks, read user reviews, and request books from any Same Page library. eBooks and Audiobooks are also available through our Digital Library Services.


How to Use the ReadSquared App

  1. Download. Search for READSquared in the Google Play or App Store and click Get or Install
  2. Find your Library. Type in Cape Breton Regional Library and select it.
  3. LogIn/Register. Login if you have previously used READsquared or if you already created a login on the readsquared website. Click register if this is your first time using READsquared.
  4. Log your Reading. Everything is synced between the website and the app. So you can log your books from your phone or your computer, whichever works best for you in the moment.
