Posters and other Items for Display

Most Cape Breton Regional Library branches have bulletin boards or pamphlet displays to post community information, especially information about educational, cultural, recreational, and charitable activities. These guidelines define the criteria for accepting items from the public to post or distribute.

Scope

  1. Libraries have limited bulletin boards and display space. The priority for these spaces is to advertise library programs and services. The Library will accept and post public information when there is available space. The Library cannot guarantee that items will be displayed.
  2. The Library does not endorse the content, subject matter, or points of view expressed in community information posted, nor will it be held responsible for the reliability of information or services posted.
  3. The Library does not charge a fee to display items.
  4. Community groups and individuals must submit items to the Library for posting or distribution. Items posted without permission will be removed.
  5. The Library is not responsible for lost or damaged items. The Library does not return display items after use.
  6. Display items must clearly show the name of the responsible group or individual.
  7. The Library does not guarantee how long items are displayed. No item will be displayed indefinitely. Time sensitive notices are removed immediately upon completion, e.g. concert date information. Staff will write a posting date on items so they can be removed after a reasonable time.
  8. The branch supervisor has the final decision about displaying items if the appropriateness of an item is in question.
  9. The Library does not have the capacity to print items on behalf of external organizations. Posters or pamphlets must be submitted to the library in print format. Items can be delivered in person or mailed to CBRL Headquarters at the following address:
    • Cape Breton Regional Library Headquarters
    • 50 Falmouth Street
    • Sydney NS B1P 6X9
  10. The Library is unable to share or promote third-party events or information on our social media platforms.
