Cape Breton Regional Library invites applications for the temporary part-time position of Program Coordinator for Be Robust at 55 Plus, a project supported through the New Horizons for Seniors Program.
Job Summary
Under the direction of CBRL’s Programs Department, the Program Coordinator will plan, promote, deliver, and evaluate library programs for adults aged 55 and older. Programming will take place at library branches in Sydney, Glace Bay, Baddeck, and Ingonish, with a focus on physical wellness, creative expression, social connection, and cognitive engagement.
This position is well suited to someone who enjoys working with older adults, building community connections, and creating welcoming, engaging programs.
Responsibilities
The Program Coordinator will:
- Research, plan, promote, and deliver programs for adults aged 55 and older in a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment
- Develop programming that supports physical wellness, creative expression, social connection, and cognitive engagement
- Maintain existing community partnerships and identify opportunities for new partnerships
- Promote library programs, services, initiatives, resources, and collections related to the project
- Design and prepare promotional materials such as displays, signage, posters, and social media content
- Track participation, gather feedback, and evaluate program outcomes
- Prepare a final report summarizing participation, community impact, and recommendations for future programming for adults aged 55 and older at the Library
- Display, promote, and perform work duties in a positive and safe manner
- Perform other public library service duties as required
Qualifications
The successful candidate will have:
- Experience leading projects and/or working with older adults
- Experience working with diverse communities, both one-on-one and in group settings
- Strong presentation skills and the ability to plan and deliver engaging programs
- Excellent customer service, organizational, and communication skills
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
- Ability to assess community interests and needs and plan services accordingly
- Ability to work positively, effectively, and collaboratively in a busy environment
- Flexibility, creativity, initiative, accountability, and a commitment to learning and development
- Intermediate computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications and Canva
- A diploma in a field related to social services, recreation, education, community development, or a related area
Requirements
- Valid Nova Scotia driver’s licence with an excellent driving record
- Ability to travel to CBRL locations, including Sydney, Glace Bay, Baddeck, and Ingonish
- Ability to lift and move medium to heavy objects
- Availability to work 20 hours per week, including some evenings and weekends

Hourly rate: $20.08
Location: Library Headquarters and other CBRL locations
