St. Paul Island: Graveyard of the Gulf
February 6 @ 6:30 pm - 7:30 pm
Terry Dwyer has been a fixture in the commercial, recreational, and scientific diving community for more than four decades.
Join Terry for a presentation on 16 yrs of adventures and shipwreck exploration off St. Paul Island. Located in the Gulf of St. Lawrence, roughly 24 kms. from Cape North and 71 kms. from Cape Ray (NF.), the island is basically a granite rock that measures 3 miles-long and 1 mile-wide and is shrouded in fog and mist for most of the year. There are over 350 shipwrecks off this island and well over 1000 people buried in unmarked graves. Virtually unexplored, St. Paul Island still beckons divers to its coastline, offering unprecedented opportunities for new shipwreck discoveries and quite often underwater visibility in excess of 100 ft. in all directions.
