To support our communities, CBRL offers resources and services that work to help alleviate the stress many individuals experience in securing essential food and products. Community members experiencing insecurity in various forms know that they can count on the library for support. Currently, CBRL offers community cupboards at branches in Baddeck, New Waterford, and the McConnell Library in Sydney. The library’s community cupboards help people access resources confidentially and discreetly, without having to identify themselves. In this way, the library’s community cupboards also help address hidden or invisible poverty.
Donations of food and personal care items for the community cupboards are always welcome! They can be dropped off at libraries in Baddeck, New Waterford, and the McConnell Library in Sydney any time during the branches’ hours of operation. Thank you for helping us help others!
