A little more about Michelle: She was born with cataracts and is visually impaired.

She graduated from computer programming from the University of Manitoba at a time when this program was in its infancy and this wasn’t a typical career path for a visually impaired person. Her working years were spent in Ontario working for the provincial government and also Sun Oil.

Michelle retired early due to do a health condition but her energy was quickly diverted to volunteering widely in her community with the CNIB; at the library; for the Atlantic Provinces Special Education Committee; the Canadian Council for the Blind and the Inter Library Accessibility Committee.

Michelle was the first female District Administrator for the CNIB and she spent several years co-ordinating summer camps and Atlantic Sports and Recreation weekends for the blind and visually impaired.

She continues to do volunteer work in her community.
