Art Exhibition: Sydney
Over the past year, CBRL has been working with hand papermaker and artist Kristi Farrier to bring a community art project to life. Hand Papermaking in Libraries: Connecting Art, Stories, and Communities is now on view at the McConnell Library, thank to the generous support of Arts Nova Scotia.
Kristi Farrier, of Flying Finch Studio, makes paper from plants and repurposed textiles and transforms them into beautiful and useful objects. In the spring, she taught 37 participants at library-hosted workshops in Sydney, Main-a-Dieu, Baddeck and Glace Bay how to make paper from their own upcycled textiles and create works of art that tell their story.
Visit the library during regular opening hours on Friday, June 7th to view the paper art creations.
