Banned Books Club: George Orwell’s 1984

The Banned Books Book Club was started in the fall of 2022, and thus far they have read Black Like Me, The Hate U Give, The Kite Runner, and more. Their next book, which they will be reading in October and November, will be George Orwell’s 1984.

They read a few chapters each week and then meet and discuss them, making it a different format than a traditional book club, with a focus on the reasons the book was challenged or banned. If it is an older challenge or ban, this also includes how these views in society may have changed and how the book would be received today.
