Book Launch: Our Roots Run Deep

First time author Jim MacCormack has documented his family’s history in the book ‘Our Roots Run Deep: One Family’s Story‘. From the Scottish Highlands to Industrial Cape Breton, 3 decades of research, dead ends, and travel brought Jim to this story of the MacCormacks of Scotland and their harrowing crossing to Cape Breton. Forward 5 generations, we read of Douglas MacCormack, his wife and 10 children, and the life and times of growing up in Whitney Pier.

Jim is one of those those ten MacCormack children, raised in Whitney Pier (circa 1950’s & 60’s) and although the history and memories are his, there are moments that resonate universally – a family story like many others.

Join Jim to swap stories, share memories and reminisce about growing-up. Everyone welcome.

Books will be available for purchase & signing at the event and also at Cape Breton Curiosity Shop (292 Charlotte Street).

From the back cover of ‘Our Roots Run Deep’ by Jim MacCormack: “With humour and emotion, we encounter stories of goodness, hope, tragedy, and triumph of this “modern” family. The lessons taught, learned, and passed down through the generations should serve as a reminder of the importance of family values and their positive impact on generations to come.”
