Request for community feedback on proposed changes to library service delivery in Florence
Cape Breton Regional Library has faithfully served the Northside for 73 years. Due to the changing needs of the community and our organization, the Library’s services are currently undergoing an assessment. At this time, the Library Board has recommended closing the Florence branch.
Since 2017, the usage of the Florence Library has decreased by 63 percent. This downturn was exacerbated during the COVID-19 pandemic and continues to decline.
Please be advised that our North Sydney and Sydney Mines locations remain open to serve you six days a week.
The Cape Breton Regional Library Board must go through a consultation process before deciding to shift the future vision for library services in Florence.
We value your feedback and invite members of the Florence Library to share your thoughts with Library Board members and staff, and let us know how we can continue to serve your needs.
A public information meeting will be held on Wednesday, November 8th, 7pm at the Florence Legion.
