About this Crochet Kit
Recommended age: 8 and up.
In this kit you will learn some basic crochet stitches and create two finished projects. Printed instructions and video links are provided.
Your projects are yours to keep.
Donations for supplies gratefully accepted.
Instructions are included for two Projects:
- Project 1: Gift Wrapping Ribbon
- Project 2: Dishcloth
Supplies included:
- Scrap yarn to make ribbons
- 50 g Cotton yarn (worsted weight) for dishcloth
- 1 crochet hook (4 or 5 mm)
- Darning needle
You will Need:
- An Internet connected device such as a computer, tablet, or smartphone to view the video tutorials. Written instructions are also included.
- Scissors

Learn to Crochet Kit 1 can be requested from the SamePage Catalogue.
Once available it can be borrowed for 3 weeks.
If you already have some yarn and crochet needles you can follow along with the instructions on this page without borrowing the kit.

Visit the Make and Takes website and follow their tutorial for making Chain Stitch Wrapping Ribbon pictured above.

2. Project 2: EASY BEGINNER’S Crochet Dish Cloth
Written Instructions for Dishcloth
Begin with a slip knot.
Use chain stitch and make a chain of 25.
Make a single crochet (sc) in the second chain from the hook.
Continue to single crochet until you reach the last stitch in the chain. Do a single crochet in the last stitch and then chain 1 stitch.
Turn your work and begin to single crochet across the next row.
Continue working rows of single crochet until you have enough rows to make a square. (Should be 24 rows) (Use a ruler to measure the length and width of your project.)
Add an edge to your project by working a row of single crochet evenly around the entire edge of the dishcloth. Chain 2 stitches at each corner before beginning the next edge. When you have done all four sides and are back at your first stitch, form a loop by chaining 8 stitches and then use a slip stitch to secure the loop to the next stitch in the corner.
Cut the yarn and pull it through to fasten off.
Use a darning needle to weave in loose ends.
